Chapter 2.1 - Accessing the Public Web Site

The public side of a local association's web site can be accessed in several ways. In general, access methods include links from other web sites (including search engines), and direct access via web addresses.

Access via web links.
A local association web site can be accessed from any other web site containing a clickable link, set to go to the association's web site address (URL). This can include links on affiliated web sites like the state association, NAIFA, sister organizations or search engines.

Access via direct web address (URL)
Typing an association's web address into the "address" or "location" entry form in a web browser will bring a user directly to the web site.
An association can, and usually does, have more than one web address, although typically only one address is promoted.

State association websites can be accessed by typing:
·http://TheStateName.naifa.org into the browser, or
·http://TheStateName.naifanet.com

Both address will yield the same result.

In addition, many state and local organizations have their own domain names. These domain names can be set up to go to ANY server or pointed to route to any web address. A unique web address will be created for any local NAIFA organization using the system. Local association websites can be accessed by typing http://naifanet.com/LocalAssociationName.
