Chapter 3.2.2 - How to Create a Link
Previous  Top  Next

Creating link within web site can be done easily within the WYSIWYG Editor.
There are 3 types of links you can create using the "Insert Hyperlink" option:

1. A link to any website address
2. A link to any of your documents in you File Library.
3. A link to an email address.

1. A link to any website address.

First, we will create a link to another web site, for example, NAIFA's website.
To make the link "easy to Read", type a simple name, i.e "NAIFA's Website".
Then, left click on your mouse and highlight NAIFA's Website. The text will
be highlight in black and the text will be white.

Next, click on the "Insert Hyperlink" button on the WYSIWYG Editor Toolbar:

A new window will open:

In the HREF field, delete the http:// that is in the field. Next, you
can enter the link two ways:

1. You can type the web address in the HREF field
2. You can copy and paste it from another web browser.

In this case, type the following: http://www.naifa.org

If you would like it to open in a new web browser, simple add
"New" in the Target field. If not, leave the Target field blank.

Now, click on the "Insert Link" link.

You will now see the NAIFA's Website text is now blue, which mean
it is now a link. If you wan to edit the link, just click anywhere on the
text and then click on the "Update Hyperlink" button, which is the same
as the "Insert Hyperlink" button.

2. A link to any of your documents in you File Library.
Next, we will create a link to a document that you have uploaded to your
File Library. Before creating or editing your custom page, click on the
"File Library" link on your Administrative Panel. This will open a new window
for your File Library. (For information about uploading files into the File Library
please review the "File Library Section of this Help Manual)

Find the document you want to create a link too and click on the "Copy Link" link on the
right side under Actions. A window will pop-up and say "Link to:" and the file you clicked on.

Click on the red "X" to close this window.

Now, you will paste the link (Press the CTRL-V keys at the same time) in the "HREF" field
as described above.

3. A link to an email address.

To create a link to an email address, you follwow the steps listed above and the only
difference occurs in the "HREF" field.

Delete the http:// that is currently in the "HREF" field and type "mailto:emailaddress".
No quotes are necessary and are used to show the beginning and end of the text
necessary. For example "mailto:techsupport@codewriters.com". When finished,
click on the "Insert Link" link.
