The last link at the bottom of the Main Customization Page creates a current file containing member data to be used for mailing labels, or importing into another software porgram. When you click the link, a fresh file is created containing any changes you may have just made in the member record editing area. This can take a minute or two to process. Two files are created, one a comma-delimited text file and one a tabbed-delimited file, both with the first row containing fieldnames. Providing these two formats will provide an additional choice for external prgrams with specific requirements. It is recommended that you use the tab-delimited choice, unless you are importing into MS Word, which prefers comma delimited files. Both files are standard formats compatible with a wide variety of data programs including MS Word, Access, Excel, Act, Goldmine, Lotus, Word Perfect, and more. By RIGHT clicking on the file name links created, and choosing "save target as" (or "save link as" in Netscape), the file will be downloaded to a location on your hard drive that you specify using the standard file save dialog box.
The file you download can be imported into the program of your choice using the data import routine of the program you are using. MS programs like Access and Excel launch helpful wizards when you choose "get external data," typically located under the File or Data menus. MS Word typically imports data for mailing labels by going to File-->New-->Tools-->Mailmerge-->Create-->Mailing Labels-->Active Window-->Get Data-->Open Data Source-->(select the file you dowloaded)-->Set Up Main Document-->Insert Merge Fields-->ok-->Merge.
