NAIFA - Missouri Today:
NAIFA - Missouri is a major force shaping the changing environment of life and health insurance and related financial services in Missouri. Founded in 1934 and headquartered in Jefferson City, NAIFA - Missouri is a federation of local associations representing 1,156 individuals engaged in life underwriting.
How NAIFA - Missouri Operates:
Structurally, NAIFA - Missouri is supported by 14 local associations with 1,156 individual members. These local organizations are elected to membership in the National Association. The local associations have their own elected officers and governing bodies, and create programs attuned to members professional needs. At the national level, a board of trustees defines NAIFA policy and exercises full administrative authority. Officers and trustees are elected by NAIFA's delegate body-the National Council, which also amends bylaws and recommends policy.
Our Mission:
The mission of NAIFA - Missouri is to coordinate legislative advocacy. To provide leadership training and organizational support to our local associations, so as to enhance the business environment and the professional skills of those providing insurance and financial services.
Objectives:
To fulfill its mission, NAIFA - Missouri develops programs to achieve general objectives in the areas of; communications; education; ethical conduct government relations and advocacy: member associations, conferences and other member services: public relations; community service; and relationships with other organizations.
Professional Development:
NAIFA - Missouri fosters professional education and skill-building through numerous programs. To keep local members abreast of rapid changes in insurance and financial services, we also sponsor special meetings, seminars, publications and supports the Life Underwriter Training Council and the American College.
Public Relations:
The public's growing understanding of life and health insurance and its acceptance of the underwriter's role are due, in good measure, to our public relations and information programs. A variety of public relations materials are created for members of local associations to use in their own locales, while others are designed to directly reach the public through radio, television and printed media.
Community Service:
NAIFA - Missouri's community service program annually involves hundreds of members.
Legislation and Regulation:
Association members take understandable pride in our record of success in legislative and regulatory matters. We have been a consistently effective advocate for those who buy and sell life insurance and related financial services. NAIFA - Missouri is also a vigorous participant in the political process through its Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee (AIFAPAC). The Committee on Political Involvement (AIFAPIC) promotes agent involvement in the political process and encourages advisors to develop personal contacts with legislators. Together, AIFAPAC and AIFAPIC serve to further the legislative goals of NAIFA - Missouri.
Prestige and Recognition:
Active participation in an association contributes to personal and professional growth, and offers individuals an excellent means of achieving recognition for their accomplishments. Membership in a local is a requirement of some of the industry's most prestigious forms of recognition. Among them are the National Quality Award (NQA), the National Sales Achievement Award (NSAA) Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) designation. Membership is also required by such prominent industry organizations as the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), the General Agents and Managers Conference (GAMC), the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), and the Association of Health Insurance Agents (AHIA).
